Here’s how to think about the fasteners and what to prioritize.

Zip ties / Nylon cable ties: These are quick, inexpensive and ideal for chain-link and temporary installs. UV-resistant nylon ties are lightweight and easy to trim, and the included cable zip ties are convenient for initial setup. They’re best when you need fast installation and don’t expect to retension often. Downsides: nylon can become brittle over many seasons, especially in intense sun, so choose UV-rated ties and replace them periodically.

Stainless-steel cable ties: If corrosion resistance and strength matter, stainless steel cable ties give superior hold and longevity compared with nylon.
